Pinellas Park

Pinellas Park is situated in central Pinellas County, Florida. The hundred year old city is originally home to vacationers and northern transplants which made it the most heavily populated county in Florida. All the surroundings are urbanized and land-locked so the city is bordered from Boca Ciega Bay and Gulf of Mexico to the west, Tampa Bay to the east.Well known for its equestrian events and facilities, most residents engage in fishing and various water sports and activities in areas close by. The oldest street of the city is Park Boulevard where people can find flea markets, produce stalls to high-end luxury vehicles.

F.A. Davis founded the city when he bought 12,800 acres of Hamilton Disston’s land during 1911. Brochures to promote the place drew northerners, mostly from Pennsylvania towards the city appreciating the awesome winter climate and agricultural state. Sugar cane was the primary crop of the district which was offered a free lot in the city by the Florida Association which purchased 10 acres of nearby farm land. In 1970, the city had a train depot on the St. Petersburg and Clearwater line and the city had a vehicle road from Tampa to St. Petersburg. The city progressed moderately until the city’s population boomed almost three times after the World War II.

Pinellas Park can be found in the center of the widest part of the St. Pete/Clearwater peninsula and famous for the Country in the Park festival and Chili Blaze chili cook off both done in spring and takes place at the Band Shell at England Brothers Park which is located north of city hall. The Chili Blaze is all presented by Pinellas Park’s finest firefighters where you will see various homemade chili recipes. The Country in the Park event is well-known for its country music, alongside arts and crafts, vendors, food and drink tents as well as a car show.

Captivating historic cars featuring Delorean and World War II models coming from both sides of the Atlantic can be seen at the Tampa Bay Automobile Museum in Pinellas Park.
