Culbreath Isles neighborhood was named in honor of Colonel Harry C. Culbreath, a confederate civil war veteran who came from South Carolina and decided to settle in Tampa. About 43 family members of Culbreath family were recorded historically and one of Harry’s sons Harry Lee Culbreath became quite popular and very distinguished gentleman in his own right.

The builder of Culbreath isles in 1960s is Joe Byars, who successfully established the district as the initial Tampa community secured with a guarded gate behind concrete walls. Even though the streets are open for public, visitors are required to check in with the guard before entering, for security purposes. As an avid sailor, Joe was inspired to name most of the streets after favorite destinations in The Bahamas such as Lyford Cay, Andros and St. Croix.

Culbreath Isles was designed to maximize access to waterfront for boat enthusiasts and those wanting exceptional views. Lawns were expertly maintained as well as million-dollar priced homes with winding roads within this peaceful, family-oriented neighborhood.

A lot of people, who pass by the beautiful gated community on Westshore Boulevard, curiously peep beyond the guardhouse to the bay, wishing they could enter, not realizing it is a public neighborhood. People don’t need to use a homeowner’s name to enter and witness this highly coveted neighborhood consisting of single-family homes set at the waterfront covered by old trees by the bay. Just check in with the guard to enter this exclusive South Tampa community.

Several properties in Culbreath Isles face deep-water canals and feature massive outdoor decks, swimming pools, and boat docks styled to house big watercrafts. Right on their backyards, home owners can enjoy the sunsets and fish whenever they like. They can do water activities too at the back of their homes such as kayak, ski, paddleboard, sail, cruise among others. The neighborhood is located just 5 minutes away from the airport so this place is truly a brilliant district to live in.
