Riverview is situated about 10 minutes from Tampa and 40 minutes from St. Petersburg and Sarasota. It is a neighborhood south of Brandon and 25 minutes from University of South Florida area. Founded in 1885 on the north shore of Alafia River, Riverview was formerly named as “Peru” by early settlers in 1830s since it was an indigenous name for “straight part of the river” Today, Riverview boasts of its development, specifically along the north-south corridor of US HI way 301 and growing outdoor shopping activities and food destinations just a few minutes’ walk from the housing communities and apartment complexes. read more…

Alafia River State Park is one of the outdoor attractions in Riverview which features hiking, equestrian trails, biking, camping at Boyette Scrub and various parks that include fishing piers and great access to the Alafia River by boat leading out to Tampa Bay. There are golf courses also such as the Bloomingdale Golfer’s Club, the private Summerfield Crossing Golf Course and the Buckhorn Springs Golf and Country Club, as well as the Riverhills Country Club.

Indoor activities include more enjoyment at the Brandon Regency 20 Movie Theater featuring an IMAX Theater and also the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino nearby in the east end of Tampa. Riverview restaurants include Westshore Pizza, Buffalo Wild Wings, The Silver Ring Café, Green Iguana and more. Cheesecake Factory, Sinigual and Grillsmith are just about ten minutes’ drive towards Westfield Brandon Mall.

There are lots of public schools too such as Boyette Springs Elementary, Riverview Elementary, Symmes Elementary, Collins Elementary, Summerfield Elementary, Giunta Middle, Rodgers Middle, Business, Spoto High and Riverview High. Colleges in the area include Nova Southeastern, Florida Career College, Emmaus Baptist College and Hillsborough Community College-Brandon.

Much of Riverview’s trade is spawned by retail and hospitality, banking,along with commercial and residential construction developments as the neighborhood continues to expand and progress.
